Stephen was born into a loving and strong practicing Roman Catholic Family.he Was the eldest of three children,brother of Robert and sister Mary.(Parents were Stephen and Isabella)He had a tough childhood growing up during the 1930's but passed a scholarship to gain entry into a protestant grammar school in Hepburn.He served an apprenticeship as a fitter and turner at Reyrolles in Hepburn proving to be very skilled and precise at his craft.He was eager to join the Navy at the outbreak of World War 2 but was accepted into the RAF Where he served as a flight engineer/navigator on Halifax and Sterling bombers surviving many missions over Germany.He married Joan Moore from Pine Sreet Scotswood,Newcastle during the war and lived for while there whilst working at his trade at the nearby Vickers Armstrong factory at Elswick where he later became an inspector.He was the father of five children,Stephen,Kenneth,Michael,Shiela and Patricia and lived the remainder of his life in 30 Lindfield Avenue,Blakelaw,Newcastle after a few years in Kenton.He was always a devout Roman Catholic and worked hard to keep his family often working long shifts both night and day.He was a good gardener and grew many different types of vegetables and flowers and in his later years became an accomplished Scottish Bagpipes player with Newcastle City Pipe Band.Stephen Gave everything of himself in life and was greatly loved by his freinds and family.
